Simply put, you can think of it as a memory card adapter. It allows you to use micro SD Cards and will enable your Nintendo 3DS to load and store games from the micro SD card. It looks and feels just like any regular standard DS or DSi game cartridge, but it does so much more. Once you have the R4i 3DS, you'll be amazed at the things your Nintendo DSi or Nintendo 3DS will be able to do. Watching movies, reading ebooks, listening to your MP3 collection - all on your Nintendo 3DS, is now possible. Our Official R4i Cards work on even the newest Nintendo DSi and the NIntendo 3DS V3.0.0-6 update! Unlike other r4i cards where you have to buy a new one every single time the 3ds is update, our r4i cards work flawlessly - and have unlimited updrades included free of charge.
The original R4i was released many years ago, first for the Nintendo DS, then the DS Lite and new versions for the DSi and the Nintendo DSi XL. Now that the Nintendo 3DS is available, R4i users were clamouring to get their hands on a similar card for their newest game system. And that is where the R4i 3DS comes in to play. With every single one of the main feutures gamers were accustomed to on the their DS and DSI systems, now available on their Nintendo 3DS.
Originally released as a way to both create and play homebrew games and applications, amateur developers flocked to the R4i in droves, creating and making some of the coolest homebrew and freeware games and applications. The R4i 3DS has gone from just being a freeware game player, to enhancing your 3DS to the point where it can now be your main hand held multimedia hub. With free apps to enable watching of movies, TV shows, MP3 players to let you enjoy your music, and even ebook readers and web browsers.
There are literally hundreds of free games, applications, emulators for classic game systems, web browsers, and so much more, all available to download and yours for free.
